Following in his father's and grandfather's footsteps, Gary has spent almost his
entire life in and around the construction industry. He spent summers working construction throughout high school and college. 

After graduating from Florida State University in 1977, with a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Arts Education, he began teaching. Gary taught Graphic Arts 
and Architectural Drawing for 18 years. In 1987, he started his own construction company based in Tallahassee, Florida. In 1994, an architect from Tallahassee   inspired him to build a home on St. George and he has continued to build on the island ever since. In 1999, after many years of working in both education and construction, he made the decision to move into custom home building full time.  

Over the years, his business has expanded to include other areas along the Gulf Coast, from Summercamp in St. James Island to WaterColor in Santa Rosa Beach. Gary Ulrich Construction, Inc.  is currently on the approved builder list in the
following St. Joe Communities: SummerCamp, WindMark Beach, WaterSound,
and WaterColor.
